The Barbecast

Yeah, it happened. We made it to our age. It's the 18th Barbecast featuring Scott Weber of Lookout Landing and some variation of Jedd Gyorko. We talked to Scott about HOLY SHIT THE MARINERS ARE GONNA SIGN ROBINSON CANO and then spent too much time on Justin Smoak and the rest of the Mariners team. We also interviewed Mark Ling for the second time, the mastermind behind the Sacramento RiverCats Twitter account. He PWND the Reno Aces earlier this week so we asked him about being soulless and awesome. Tales from LogDog with Lana Berry covered Lana's Hall of Fame Ballot but not THAT Hall of Fame Ballot. E-mails were above-average and that's all you get to know. And OF COURSE we had another baseball-reference name war IN WHICH WE BOTH PICKED A TURKEY. Thanks for listening <3

WARNING: This is probably our messiest Barbecast yet...but it's a fun one. We literally lit the Hanukkah candles on the podcast. What more do you want? You can blame the weird audio quality on Jake's microphone this time, and NOT on my internet.  Anyway, our special guest this week is Matt Sussman, one of the 38 funniest people on Twitter. We talked to him about a bunch of Detroit Tigers related stuff and his first ever joke. After that, Amanda Rykoff came on to talk about her ridiculously awesome experience in Curacao and how legendary Wladimir Balentien is. We recorded the e-mail segment with Jake's mother and she provided plus-plus motherly commentary throughout. Tales from Logdog with Lana Berry covered some FOOTBALL YES FOOTBALL as well as where the hell Shelby Miller has been (SPOILER ALERT: HE GOT MARRIED). Oh, and of course we had another ridiculous baseball-reference name war. Sorry about the ending. Thanks for listening <3

It's the Barbecast's Sweet 16 and we celebrated by talking to an entire Triple-A baseball team...kinda. Our special guest this week is the MASTERMIND behind the Sacramento RiverCats' Twitter account, Mark Ling. Mark turned out to be significantly cooler than Daric Barton and gave some great insight on what it's like to work in minor league baseball. No baseball talk this week because I, Jordan, is/was deathly ill BUT we managed to include another war of old baseball player names found in the depths of baseball-reference. Tales from Logdog with Lana Berry was all about Jake going to the SMARTEST SCHOOL IN AMERICA. Another solid crop of e-mails this week; my 12-year old brother made another appearance and Big Poop let us know how much he misses baseball. Thanks for listening <3

We made it to Episode Half-of-Thirty which is remarkably insignificant but we'll celebrate it anyway. Our special guest this week is some random unemployed guy named Danny Farris. He watched literally all of the baseball games this year so we talked to him about that and what it was like living in the Fan Cave. Tales from Logdog covered GRONKFEST and how Lana survived playing semi-drunk football with Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski. Lana wrote about it here. E-mails included a gem from my 12 year old brother David, Ric Flair AGAIN, shirsey limits, and another incredible story from Big Poop. Baseball talk included a war of 19th century baseball names (let us know who won), and more shirsey talk. This was a fun one. Rate and review us on the iTunes. It helps a lot and we want more people to appreciate our questionable humor in audio form. Thanks <3

Episode 14 of the Barbecast has arrived in the form of Jemile Weeks jokes and a whole lot of talk about baseball player names from the 19th century. We laughed about Pretzels Getzien for about ten minutes. Our special guest this week is baseball lawyer extraordinaire  Jason Wojiewjcokwciwjcokwjcokwhokchwokchwokchscjichowski of Twitter dot com fame. We talked to the Woj about Jemile Weeks, the Oakland Athletics, and more unfortunate baseball names including PUDDIN' HEAD JONES. We like Woj a lot and you should too. E-mails include another brilliant appearance from Napolean Bookbindery, Edmundo, and NaNoWriMo ideas from Big Poop. Baseball talk was Jake making me guess which player from each team won the HEART AND HUSTLE AWARD. No, seriously. Tales from LogDog with Lana Berry was the same thing. Lana got more right than I did :( Jake's Varsity Baseball Update is an exciting one, as JAKE MADE THE TEAM YAY JAKE ha no he's not actually on the team yet. But encouraging news is shared. Thanks for listening. Rate and review us for a chance to win our love and respect <3

Because bad luck means nothing to us, Barbecast 13 is here one day before Halloween. We managed to squeeze four guests into one episode. Our special guest this week is Amanda Rykoff, devoted #MUPWATCHer and baseball writer extraordinaire. You can follow her on the Twitterz @amandarykoff. We talked to her about hilariously long extra inning games, stupid World Series narratives, and Yankee Stadium tickets costing more than your house. E-mails were exciting; LITTLE POOP IS BACK. After Amanda, we introduced THE CHRONICLES OF LOVEGLOVE. It's the return of the official minor league pitcher of Cespedes Family Barbecue, Indians right-hander Kieran Lovegrove. Kieran is in the same organization that just changed their Double-A affiliate's team name from the Aeros to the RubberDucks so we obviously asked him about that. If you like happiness, go follow Kieran @Lovegrove19. Instead of baseball talk, you get to hear 15 minutes of us having an emotional breakdown with Jake's mother after the obstruction extravaganza of Game 3. It's intense. And finally, TALES FROM LOGDOG with our good friend Lana Berry. As always. Thanks for listening <3

It's difficult to top last week's ridiculousness, but Barbecast 12 is here featuring our first ever TWO TIME GUEST Paul Sporer. Unfortunately, Paul's first episode way back in August was deleted sooooo we had him on again because we like him. We talked to Paul about HIS Tigers, Jim Leyland, the World Series, and I think some other baseball stuff. Another spectacular e-mail segment included questions about Kelly Vs. Avril, ways to improve Cleveland, Chinese Food and postseason songs. Oh, and Big Poop sent in a brilliant short story about his fictional encounter with Jose Fernandez. Then we interviewed my (Jordan's) roommate Jamie about his dream of being a DH for the rest of his baseball career. Tales from Logdog was messy, but we talked to Lana about the Kanye West proposal among other stuff. Thanks for listening. GO RATE AND REVIEW US ON ITUNES PLEASE. Alright, cool. <3

We asked Lana if she had seen Alison Gold's Chinese Food music video. She said no. We showed it to her and recorded her reaction.

Just when you thought the Barbecast couldn't get any more ridiculous, we had an actual professional baseball player on to talk about things that I don't even want to say here because they are too good to spoil. It's right-hander Kieran Lovegrove, the OFFICIAL MINOR LEAGUE PROSPECT OF CESPEDES FAMILY BARBECUE. We talked to him for an absurdly long time and then edited out most of it for obvious reasons. Oh, and of course Lana showed up again. Our extra long e-mail segment covered the Red Sox' ability to consume alcohol, a ton of Yasiel Puig questions and another masterpiece from Big Poop. We actually talked about baseball for a good while, considering the playoffs are going on...but that quickly dissolved into a discussion about our favorite shirseys. Jake's Varsity Baseball Update is somewhat depressing, as America's Favorite ROOGY is still adjusting to life as a Pitcher Only. This week's show ends with another edition of TALES FROM LOGDOG (Lana again; we can't get rid of her). We had her watch "Chinese Food" for the first time and react to it in real time. It was intense. If you haven't watched Chinese Food yet, please just go do that by clicking here. Chinese Food is also our musical guest because we love chow m-m-m-m-mein. This might be our best episode ever. We hope you enjoy <3

Yeah, we showed some #want and cranked this out in a single afternoon. It's a milestone episode so we got Mike/Mark/Montreal Ferrin of Fringe-Average and MLB Network radio fame. You can follow him @MikeFerrinSXM. We talked about Cuban baseballers, the playoffs, the mid-west, and The Godfather. No e-mails this week, except for one from Big Poop because duh. Baseball talk includes OUR SUPER EXCITING PLAYOFF PICKS. Jake's Varsity Baseball Update is a big one; JAKE IS BECOMING A PITCHER. Tweet us your congratulations and condolences. TALES FROM LOGDOG is back for the second time with our good friend Lana Berry and we discussed this Miley Cyrus Hedgehog parody video and how she survived #DoLoThroDo. We concluded with a nice family friendly story about Scott Spiezio and Chad Bradford. Seriously. Thanks for listening <3
